ABOUT

Hi there! My artist name is Seyumei and I'm currently based in the Pacific Northwest of the US! My freelance art career spans over a decade of creating numerous illustrations, game/website assets and animations for various clients. I also do comics and worldbuilding development on the side.My art style is usually characterized with lively colors and expressions, drawing inspiration from shounen anime, nature and mythology. When I'm not working, my other hobbies include hiking, nature photography and collecting goat content.

Portfolio

Commissioned WORK

Artwork and animation work I've done for clients (does not include NDA work).

ORIGINAL WORK

Artwork I've done for my own original projects. Most of them are made for a passion project with a placeholder name called "World of Pelepia", which is a collection of stories revolving around the coexistence between different intelligent species and powerful/supernatural forces. All of my characters and stories are interwoven in the same universe and world, just in different time periods. Each part influences the next in some way.My current projects set in that world are The Incubus Prince, which is the story of a banished Incubus named Sky, and Bromodachis, which is a random comic collection of Sky's relationship with Keith, a criminal mechanic. Both contain 18+ and LGBT+ content.A website is currently in the works to serve as a "wiki" for my worldbuilding. It'll be linked here when its finished!

Commission Information

Please read all of the information here before applying for a commission!Price quotes I give out are based on the time estimated for completion of your custom order based on my hourly rate (around $35/hr). Because of how varied requests are, I do not keep fixed prices.Sometimes I will have time sensitive/limited openings for fixed priced commissions, otherwise most commissions will need to be individually quoted. Jump to the FAQ section to learn more about how to get a commission slot from me!

I will not accept commission ideas involving the following:

  • Pornography (ie: Depictions of sexual intercourse, masturbation, ect. General NSFW such as nudity, pinups and fanservice are fine though.)

  • Most fetishes (Some may be subtle enough where I'll let it slide. Feel free to ask!)

  • NSFW/suggestive situations involving minors/ferals/child-like characters

  • Copyrighted characters for commercial use (Unless you are a VA or own rights to the character)

  • Obsessive amounts of gore

  • Anything political, controversial or hateful

If you are currently waiting on a commission, you can view my public queue HERE

Terms of Service

When commissioning me, you will be agreeing to all these terms below! Please read all of the terms carefully, as multiple violations may put you at risk for being banned from working with me again. Most of these terms apply to personal use commissions. Commercial work may have different terms applied based on contracts or other factors.

General Policy

  • You must be 18 years or older to commission me. I do backgrounds checks on potential clients to avoid risk of fraud or scams, so I may refuse to work with commissioners who seem suspicious or have blank profiles.

  • Communication and work progress will be through Email or Discord only. Email is usually preferred, but I can also work through Discord with repeat or long term clients.

  • All products I will send to you are digital files and nothing will be sent physically to you. You will receive a high resolution PNG file of your commission, which you are free to print out and use on your own. If you buy an animation, you will receive an HD MP4 video. You will also get a lower resolution version of your commission with a watermark that has credits to you and me (It's recommended to use this version if you'd like to share your commission online to avoid theft).

  • You must have a complete visual reference for your character/subject. Preferably on a single, colored reference sheet. I do not design characters when it comes to regular commissions, since that becomes an extra, time-consuming step in the process.

  • I do not mimic other artist's art styles. Unless the work is part of a collaborative effort, you are commissioning me for my own artistic vision and style. You can send me examples of my own work if there is a more specific style of mine you prefer, but I won't copy styles from others.

  • When I send you the finished file, PLEASE be sure to download it as soon as you can. I normally do an annual 'clean out' of my folders and delete old files that I haven't touched in years. If you ask me for the full size file of a commission 2 years after it was sent to you, there's a chance that I may not have it anymore.

Payment Policy

  • Payment must be made through Paypal in USD only. However, US/UK clients may also use Cashapp if they prefer.

  • Initial payment must be made within 48 hours of claiming your spot to secure it. Otherwise, you will be removed from the queue and I will move on to the next person in consideration. Payment plans can be made for more expensive commissions if you don't want to pay too much at once, but the first part will still be due within 48 hours.

  • Payment plans are only available for commissions above $300, where the invoice can be split in twos. The next payment must be due after the 2nd WIP check-in to continue. Commissions above $500 can be split up into three payments, where each payment will be due after each WIP check-in.

  • If you are under a payment plan, I can delay the next payment for a maximum of two weeks. If you are in a tight spot, I can skip your spot temporarily until you are able to resume payment. However, your commission will not be continued until payment is received. You must provide a good reason if payment needs to be delayed further, otherwise your commission may be cancelled. Please make sure you are financially stable before purchasing a commission!

  • No haggling. My price quotes are based on what previous customers have agreed to and what I believe to be fair for my time and expertise. I will not work for lower than estimated. If you cannot afford the price or don't agree with it, you do not have to accept the commission.

  • You are allowed to split payment with another person. As long as I receive the full sum in the end, its no issue. Just let me know the other party's contact info if you decide to do this.

WIP Check-In and Editing Policy

Your Rights

  • Unless commercial rights are purchased, commissions are only for non-profit use. If you plan on mass producing/distributing the artwork for profit, you can buy commercial rights for x1 or x2 the price of a private-use commission, depending on what its being used for.

Personal Use (non-profit) Examples:

  • Art for collection purposes or decoration

  • Profile picture, banner for social media or wallpaper

  • Reposting to your own social media

  • Coloring or altering the art (however, my signature cannot be removed)

  • Image for a song cover (not monetized)

  • Portrait of a pet or friend/family member

  • Illustrations for personal tabletop games, roleplay or story (ie: DnD game among friends)

Commercial Use (for profit) Examples:

  • Posters for advertising or selling

  • Animations for advertising or monetized projects

  • Art/animation assets for video games

  • Illustrations for card/tabletop games (for production, not personal)

  • Book Covers/Interior illustrations for a published book

  • Animations for Twitch/streaming channels (intros/breaks/ect)

  • Twitch emotes

  • VTuber assets/PNGtubers

  • Mascot design/character design for a business

  • Turning the commission into an NFT for cryptocurrency use or for AI training is strictly prohibited. If you are caught doing this, I will revoke all of your rights to the image you commissioned and you will be blacklisted.

  • You may ask me for WIPs and the status of your commission anytime. However, please allow a reasonable amount of time in-between asking for updates. Also take in account of your spot in the queue as well as the amount of time I take per commission.

  • Unless an NDA is signed, if you'd like to keep your commission private, it will cost a small fee. I often use commissions as a way to advertise myself and build my portfolio, so I will be giving up some of my rights if it cannot be shared. Waiting for a set date or time to post is completely free and doable though. Please note that unless you explicitly state that you want the commission private beforehand, it may be posted!

My Rights

  • I am allowed to use your commission for portfolio work and non-profit purposes. Even though the character(s) or initial idea of the picture may not be mine, I still have rights to the image since I am the one who created it.

  • I have the right to refuse my service for any reason. Such as not feeling comfortable with the subject matter or rudeness/harassment from clients. If this happens, I will refund your invoice (in full or partial depending on the progress) and depending on the severity of the situation, you may be banned from commissioning me again.

  • Filing a false Paypal chargeback will not be tolerated. If you do this, I will revoke all of your rights to the image you commissioned, file a report with Paypal, and you will be blacklisted from commissioning me ever again.

Refund Policy

  • If you want to cancel/change a commission after you have already placed your order, you will have a 48 hr time window to do so, otherwise your order will be finalized. There may be a chance that I'll start working right away once you've paid me, so please let me know ASAP! If you are in a queue and want to cancel a commission, just let me know before I reach your spot.

  • I do NOT give refunds after I've finished your picture, as the work and time has already been put in. So please be 100% certain that you want to commission me and have faith in my abilities to make you something nice! Keep in mind that I'll be working with you throughout to make sure you're happy with how things are going!

  • Partial refunds are doable, if you no longer want to continue the commission during the process for any reason. You will be billed for the time I've spend up to the point you want to stop, as well as a late cancellation fee of $35 . This is to deter people from taking advantage of this. Be aware that doing this may also place you at high risk for being banned from commissioning me again.

  • Full refunds are ONLY available if I have not already started the work. Reasons for this could be that something unexpected came up and I am unable to finish the drawing in a timely manner. I'll let you know when this happens!

FAQ (for Commissions)

How do I order a personal commission from you?

You will need to wait for openings by keeping an eye out for my posts on social media (Twitter and Furaffinity most likely). Most of the time, these slots are in limited numbers and are time sensitive, so you may need to act fast to snag a spot. Currently, the easiest way to get a personal commission from me is through YCH (your character here) sales that I may post up on social media from time to time. You do not need to wait if you want to inquire about a commission for business or commercial use, feel free to talk to me about it and I'll see if I can fit you in my schedule! Go to my Contact page for more info.(Sometimes, albeit rarely, you can propose a commission idea I really really enjoy, and I may just take it on a whim!)

Can you put me on a waitlist/ping me when you open?

I cannot unfortunately. Waitlists were just too much of a hassle to manage in the past (mainly due to ghostings and money issues with clients). Plus, if I allowed everyone who asked to be on a waitlist on the regular, it would build up such a long queue that I would never be able to keep up with it. So you'll just have to be patient and wait until I have an opportunity to open again.

Do you take personal animation commissions?

Not anymore. Due to high demand, personal animations are only available via YCH auctions. I tend to be very picky when it comes to accepting animation work due to how time consuming and strenuous the work can be.

What kind of ideas do you enjoy?

Taking a look around my gallery can give you a pretty good idea haha, but generally:- Ideas involving my own characters (probably my top favorite)
- Ideas within fandoms I enjoy (feel free to ask if unsure)
- Commissions of characters I love from various media (since this may fall into "fanart" territory, I may ask for something more specific so that it doesn't just pass off as "general" fanart)
- Monster/creature design
- Pretty men (or just attractive male subjects in general)
- Story driven ideas (so not just characters floating in a blank space)

FAQ

Why is your name "Seyumei"?

"Seyumei" is just a mashup of parts from my real name. I mainly wanted an internet alias that was simple and easy to remember, nothin' too fancy.

What programs do you use to make your art?

I use Clip Studio Paint EX for pretty much everything! Such as general drawing, BG painting, 2D animation and graphic design. Sometimes I also use Adobe Premiere and After Effects for compositing more complex animations. As for drawing tablets, I use a Wacom Cintiq 13 HD

Can I post/share your art somewhere?

I strictly prohibit reposting my art on Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram only. But if it's a site that I don't have an account on (like Reddit, E621, ect), I'm totally fine with sharing it as long as proper credit and a link back is given to me. But if you're on a social media platform like Twitter, I go by @seyumei on most places and you can probably find my art already posted there. Please share that post instead of creating your own!If the artwork I made was specifically for you though, you're free to post it wherever you like!

Can I use your artwork for something?

If the artwork was made for someone else (such as a commission/trade/gift), please do not use it at all in respect for that person, unless you know the client and have gotten permission. You can ONLY use my (general/non-commissioned) art for the following. However, please ask and credit me before you do so!- pfp/avatars
- wallpapers/banners
- references for your own art for non-commercial use (tattoos/sculptures/trad. art ect.)
Everything else is strictly off limits due to the fact that I've had to deal with a lot of IP theft in the past. Thieves and non-creditors will not be tolerated.

Can I draw your characters?

YES. ABSOLUTELY. I'm always super happy to get fanart from anyone! You're free to choose and do whatever you'd like with my characters, but if you have something more suggestive in mind, please talk to me about it first! Here's a detailed list of things I allow/don't allow with my characters: HEREYou can send fanart to me by tagging me @seyumei on social media, but in case I miss your tag, you can also DM or send it to [email protected] so I can give it the proper love it deserves!(PS: If you'd like to give me a gift, I'd probably prefer art of my characters over anything else haha.)

Do you do art requests/trades/commissions?

Requests: You can send me suggestions for fanart or ideas for my characters, but whether I actually do it depends on my interest/time. Otherwise no, I don't work for free.Trades: Very rarely, and usually only with close friends I can trust.Commissions: Only for commercial work at the moment. I don't really take personal commissions anymore unless they're under special circumstances. A more detailed FAQ on my commissions specifically can be found here !

How long does it take you to draw a picture?

It depends how complicated the picture is, but usually 3 days to a week for standard rendered illustrations. Portraits may only take 1-3 days. Animations may take up to 1-2 weeks.

How long have you've been drawing?

Pretty much all my life. But I didn't focus on improving and learning my foundations until high school.

Can I ask for artist advice?

Of course! I'm always happy to help. However, I tend to get the same questions a lot, so I'm working on a "resources" page where budding artists easily can go for advice. Here's a few guides I've written that may be of help:
Art Commissions: Tips for Artists and Clients
Why New Art Sites Don't Work in Current Year
Painting and Stylizing Fur Tutorial (a bit old and outdated, but still works)

I hate you.
